# Materiality

### **Overview**

Materiality helps determine what is significant in the audit and sets the thresholds that guide testing.

In Finspectors, materiality is calculated through a structured flow:

1. Select a financial benchmark
2. Assess qualitative risk factors
3. Adjust thresholds dynamically
4. Review and confirm the final output

The system provides recommendations at each step, while allowing auditors to apply judgment and make adjustments where needed.

### **Step-by-step: Materiality**

### **Step 1: Benchmark Selection**

Navigate to:\
**Engagement → Planning → Materiality**

* System suggests a **recommended benchmark** (e.g., Total Revenue)
* Other options include Assets, Profit, Expenses, Equity
* Answer a few questions to refine selection
* You can accept or change the benchmark

### **Step 2: Risk of Material Misstatement**

* Answer **global and industry-specific risk questions**
* Covers factors like incentives, first-year audit, control issues, industry risks
* System applies a **qualitative multiplier** (e.g., 0.8x) based on responses

### **Step 3: Threshold Engine**

* Adjust key inputs using sliders:
  * Benchmark percentage
  * Performance materiality
  * Clearly trivial threshold
* See **real-time updates** to:
  * Overall Materiality
  * Performance Materiality

### **Step 4: Summary & Submit**

* Review final values, benchmark and risk adjustments
* System generates a **summary explanation**
* Click **Submit** to finalize materiality
